1 First Quarter Reflection

1. What did you find easy in reading this quarter? What did you find challenging?                            I found that reading The Kite Fighters was an easy book and I understood it well. I found that not much of the reading this quarter was challenging but the end of my book club book was a bit difficult to understand.

2. What did you find easy in writing this quarter? What did you find challenging?
I found that I am very good at coming up with ideas and it is easy for me. I found personal narratives challenging, it took me many attempts to get a personal narrative done correctly.

3. What has surprised you about fifth grade so far?
I was surprised because I thought their was going to be more homework.

4. I am getting much better at organizing my materials

5.I am still working on being concentrated in class.

CO2 emmisions

The information represents carbon dioxide which is raising frequently  in many countries during a period of time of a couple of years. Lots of countries have increased, but some countries are decreasing slowly. The United States has had a huge decrease in 2009 and now its increasing slowly. China is a country that has increased rapidly over the years.  My prediction is that in 2020 the carbon dioxide might be a lot unless people use less vehicles and make a change, for example in china the carbon dioxide is a lot, because of the population and pollution. Many people might find this chart helpful and interesting. People can realize how much CO2 is in the world and help to try to decrease the amount. For example civilians might find this information shocking and helpful and they would help change there community by using there car less and planting more trees.

How are you like the main character

Im like the main character because I would leave the gang and stand up to myself and save Nipper from the crowd.  Im also like the main character because I would not show out the pigeon to my mom or dad because its a town that murders pigeons.

How does the setting cause conflicts with the characters?

In the park Palmer feels nervous and tenses up because he keeps having a flash back to when he saw a pigeon being wrung for the first time. He feels like he is gonna be called to wring a pigeon at the park. Beans also causes the shooter to almost kill Nipper.

What is the overall theme of the story, give examples of how the author makes you think of this theme as you read?

I think that the overall theme of the story Wringer is to always be yourself and stand up for the things that you believe in. The author gives little tips and hints that the story is that theme. I can tell that by the way that palmer faces his fear at the end of the book.  He leaps out Nipper and is finally brave enough to say that he has a pigeon.
