Mayan Simulation Reflection
This year we did a Maya Simulation. The simulation was for we to learn about the Mayas and to experienced the way they lived and traded.I thought that this simulation was really fun and exciting. It was very interesting to learn about the Ancient Maya and their ways. The simulation was a very creative idea and I enjoyed it. On the first day it was a bit though because we had to fill out the royal census, royal inventory, math tasks and many other things. It was a bit confusing but by day 3 I had already understood it and it was simple. I thought that the sacrifice was really fun and I liked how the God Chac was in charge of things. All in All I thought that this simulation was a very fun and exciting thing to do.

Bud not Buddy Questions
This metaphor that Bud says about Herman being his father grew up like a seed but got bigger and BIGGER! This means that an slight thought in your head can become bigger when you start believing in it. For example Bud used this slight thought to decent himself then it became bigger.

Bud Buddy Question
I think that the people in Hooverville are good to trust. I think Bud thinks the same thing because he lets the lady take his suitcase. the man was also very friendly with them and offered them food. the people might be homeless and starving but they are kind and offered food to Bugs and Bud.

Bud not Buddy questions
I think that Bud has a hard time getting through the Depression because it was hard times and his mother died at the beginning of the Depression. He is in the hard times at the home and many kids are joining. He is like the other kids in the depression because many are homeless so is Bud

Bud not Buddy post.
A phrase that Bud repeats throughout the book is, "here we go again" this means that a person has done that thing many times and is used to it. The author choose to repeat this phrase because his life, is a constant moving around and moving into other foster homes. For an example Bud says "here we go again" when he is line waiting for breakfast in the home, like he does each morning.

What can we infer about Herman. E. Calloway based on the fact that he is a jazz musician.
I think that Herman ran away from Bud because the depression had started and knew he wasn't going to make a good living, so he went to be a Jazz entertainer. Even though I predict he loved Bud, I think he cares more about himself and ran away.
Bud has been without a family since age six. What type of survival skills does he learn at the home?
Bud learns that he has to fend for himself and he has no family, so he needs to be very independent and brave. I think that these are the skills because the home is a place that Bud can call home, because he has been their so many times, sent back from foster homes and being lonely and trying to find his father. Bud needs to be firm and brave

CO2 emmisions
The information represents carbon dioxide which is raising frequently in many countries during a period of time of a couple of years. Lots of countries have increased, but some countries are decreasing slowly. The United States has had a huge decrease in 2009 and now its increasing slowly. China is a country that has increased rapidly over the years. My prediction is that in 2020 the carbon dioxide might be a lot unless people use less vehicles and make a change, for example in china the carbon dioxide is a lot, because of the population and pollution. Many people might find this chart helpful and interesting. People can realize how much CO2 is in the world and help to try to decrease the amount. For example civilians might find this information shocking and helpful and they would help change there community by using there car less and planting more trees.

How are you like the main character
Im like the main character because I would leave the gang and stand up to myself and save Nipper from the crowd. Im also like the main character because I would not show out the pigeon to my mom or dad because its a town that murders pigeons.

How does the setting cause conflicts with the characters?
In the park Palmer feels nervous and tenses up because he keeps having a flash back to when he saw a pigeon being wrung for the first time. He feels like he is gonna be called to wring a pigeon at the park. Beans also causes the shooter to almost kill Nipper.

What is the overall theme of the story, give examples of how the author makes you think of this theme as you read?
I think that the overall theme of the story Wringer is to always be yourself and stand up for the things that you believe in. The author gives little tips and hints that the story is that theme. I can tell that by the way that palmer faces his fear at the end of the book. He leaps out Nipper and is finally brave enough to say that he has a pigeon.

What was my first in impression of the novel?
My first impression of the novel was that I thought it was going to be scary because ok the cover and the title of the book wringer made me look and feel like it was about wringing things and a boys problems and that sort of stuff. When I read the back it told me that it was about wringing pigeons. At first I tought it was going to be a bit boring, but after I read a little I decided that it was a good book.

Did the main character make choices that you would have made why or why not?
I think that the characters choices were a bit scared and timid when he found the bird.I also think that he should be braver and expressed his feelings much more by saying and declaring to save the pigeons. I also think that he is trying to hang with the gang to much and he is doing bad thinks because of it.

Why do we need to know more than one way to solve a problem?
We need more than one way to solve a problem to make sure if your answer is correct and to see if you have understood the problem.

How did Humans end up in the Americas.
I think that the early humans passed threw the land bridge and went down the coast of South and North america. On some parts of North America they had to use rafts because of the ice pack blocking the way. The artifacts and objects found date to around 1300 years ago in North America and South America. My mind changed when I learned about the artifacts under the river in Canada and that pollen that was dated at about the time that the early people passed the land bridge and traveled by foot and sometimes boat.

TKF reflection Map
In the house Kee- sup and Young- sup have the idea to make the pottery pieces on the line of the dragon kite, which helps them win the Kite Fighting competition. They also study with their tutor there and Kee- sup tells Young- sup about the virtues of Confucius. The father also says that Kee- sup has to flythe kite for the Kite Fighting competition. Kee- sup then persuades his father to let Young- sup fly in the Kite Fighting competition. Young- sup flies the dragon kite, wins and makes his family proud. I think that they interacted a lot in the different settings.
I think the most difficult thing to do in my TKF project was to plan and to organize the writing and the drawings. I think it was difficult because I only had one piece of paper and I had to write five paragraphs and I had to write neatly but my hand writing is a bit messy. In the end I organized it and the project looked very good.

The theme in The Kite Fighters
In my opinion the theme of the Kite Fighters is friendship and problem solving. I think it's friendship and problem solving because at the beginning of the story Young sup and Kee sup are kind of having rough start and aren't being so kind to each other because Kee sup is jealous of Young sups kite flying and Young sup has to wait a week for Kee sups kite. Then further in the book they are really nice nice to each other. For example Kee sup went and supported and helped Young sup in the competition. They also problem solve how to win the competition.

Doing the right thing
I think kite seller Chungs advice was very noble and wise. Yes, once I was playing soccer and I was going to score a goal because I had dribbled the goalie and their was the goal in front of me. Then I saw a kid who was not very at soccer and never made a goal. So I passed to him and he kicked the ball and he made the goal . I think the boys Kee-sup and young-sup will keep using their special invention because it will help them win for the king. I think the boys will use it also so that they can win the kite fighting festival for the king.
