Quarter 2 BSS reflection


Nesse bimestre em BSS, agente fez muitos trabalhos interessantes. Um coisa que eu gostei muito foi o projeto da cidade de Sao Paulo que a gente feiz. A gente construi e desenho a cidade de Sao Paulo para demostra que agente pode e entendi como uma cidade e. Eu gostei muito desse projeto porque foi um projeto que agente feiz muito trabalho em equipe. Outro trabalho que eu gostei foi o trabalho dos gráficos e aquele teste, porque eu ganhai um 7. Eu acho que eu fui muito bem e que eu aprendi muito.

CSI

           This quarter in health we learned about many different things and we had many different quests. The first one was, The Power To Choose. In this quest we learned about how we have the power to choose over what we do and how to choose correct choices. The second quest was about how family members influence our designs and peer pressure. We talked about how other people can change your opinion, but you still have the power to choose. In the 3rd Quest we talked about bullying and what it is and how it affects others as we'll as yourself. The 4th quest was about healthy living and nutrition and what foods are good for you. I think that my enduring understanding for health as a whole has improved.My earning has shifted in many ways, My full enduring understanding for health has changed as well. Now I know many different ways to live a healthy life style, such as eating different foods, always having the correct amount of exercise and also learning how peer influence and family influence can affect you.

             One symbol that really affected my learning and got me very interested for this whole health unit was the symbol of food. Food, as I learned is not only something that we consume because it tastes good but it also does unbelievable things that make you live and be alive. You food to live, every meal of food is very important, especially breakfast, food supply's you with the certain nutrients your body needs to survive and maintain a healthy balanced lifestyle. Food contains different vitamins, each different kinds of food have different vitamins, such as vitamin c and others. this is why you can not only eat one type of food, you hve got to be diverse and eat every thing, and remember veggies and fruit take up about half of our plate!




          For the color that I will choose I think that it will be green. Green is the  color of nature and living, it signifies trees and nature. Without trees we would not be able to live. Green is important to the community and fits in well, imagine if nature was black! Green is a beautiful color that reminds people of plants, healthy food, like lettuce and greens, which take up half of you plate and finally trees. Trees our the thing that makes us all live, so this is why I choose this color, green.

Quest 3

       Bullying is when people continue and do repetitive physical abuse or verbal abuse.  There may be different kinds of bullying, like when your at school it can be physical, like punching and pushing and it can be verbal bullying, when a person puts you down and abuses you with words. We should always tell a teacher or an adult, another strategy is to just ignore them. Many core values can be used, like responsibility and being respectful of other students.

Six Steps to Making a Good Decisions

This the way to make good decisions in life. First we want to identify the problem. For example, you are having stomach pains, you do not know why, you look at the candy wrapper from the candy you just ate 20 min ago, the candy is expired and old. Done, you have identified the problem. Next you have to consider your values and list the options. Ok, should you go to the nurse or should you just ignore it? You could drink water and see if it goes away then, but it might not get better so you decide to go to the nurse. Before going to the nurse you weigh the consequences, if you go to the nurses office you might miss important information in class, or if you do not go, the pain could get worse. You finally decide to act and go to the nurse, she says you have a stomach bug and you should rest, you then evaluate what you did.

Looking for patterns in math

We looked and learned  about many different patterns in math. One of the first patterns that we learned was the Fibonacci sequence. This sequence is very interesting for many reasons, first of all I think that this sequence is amazing because the Fibonacci sequence is found almost everywhere in, on flower pedals, and on other patterns in nature. The Fibonacci is really interesting and pretty simple if you have memorized it. You can even find it in a a snail shell!   a. I think that the core value that I have shown the most success in is being curious. I always liked asking questions and learning more about a certain topic that I enjoy. Asking questions helps us learn and expands are mindset. No question is a bad one.

     b. Although the core value that I have shown the most of is being curious, the one that I have the most improve on from the beginning is being a risk taker. I think that I have done lots of improvement on that. During the quarter I have wanted a challenge.

BSS

            Em BSS, nesse bimestre a gente aprendeu sobe Espaço rural e também o Espaço urbano. Primeiro agente aprendeu do espaço rural. Com pecuária, e também agricultura, eu achei que foi muito interessante. A gente também aprendeu dos estados e as capitais deles. Eu ate memorizei eles. Outra coisa que eu aprende foi aos cordenatas geographicas.  Agora eu já sei como achar o longitude e latitude. A gente também aprendeu e viu dois filmes muito interessantes, que são relacionado com o nosso trabalho. Eu achei muito legal. O meu grupo e mim fezerao uma maquente sobe espaço rural.

CSI

          Health, is important for everything, especially in PHE. In PHE many injures occur, such as cramps, stitches and other things. In Health we are going to learn about these things and what to do when these things actually do occur. It is important however, to learn about health in everything not just in PHE, health is essential for our health. In health class we will also learn about how much sleep you need and other important things for your well being.
     
     I would choose the color red because red is one of the most important colors in your body. Red symbolizes blood, strength, blood cells and your own heart. Without all of these things you would not even be able to live! I think that red is a really good color to represent because it symbolizes basically life, if not for blood, your heart, and cells you would die. Many people think red symbolizes blood and war but they represent health care, the red cross, ( a health care organization) and even more!

Whats Essential for our Well Being??? Interesting Reflections!

     
         This quarter in Humanities, we all did an essay about the book that we read, Ties That Bind Ties That Break. I thought that the book was really interesting in many ways. So, the class did a 5 paragraph essay about the book, we included two of the main characters and compared them with each other and to show how they shape Ailins life. We also used new things that we learned in class, such as comma splices, and fused sentences.
     
           Another thing that really helped me when writing pieces of writing is different transitions. On my essay about Big Uncle and Father, link I used lots of different and new transitions. For example I used something like,  Thus, Furthermore, However, In conclusion and so on. Another thing that I learned and improved on is my compare and contrast. I compared and contrasted in the Father/Big Uncle in my essay, I compared and contrasted their character traits, feelings on china, and also how much they shaped Ailins life.

          Now I am going to talk about comma splices. Comma splices are sentences that we use to avoid run on sentences, for example, My dog likes to eat dog food, however he enjoys human scraps, under the kitchen table as well. That is an example of a comma splice. You never want to have a run on sentence, so add commas, but be careful, place commas in the correct spaces, or else it will sound weird. An example of a run on sentence is, I have a fish he likes to swim in his little bowl during the day. It looks bad without commas and it is incorrect.

       Moving on, I am going to talk about fused sentences. Fused sentences are run on sentences, these sentences are wrong and you should avoid using them. I have already already wrote an example in the previous paragraph. the fused sentence is not good to use and any body will have an easy time to see it because it just looks bad.

     Overall I liked my essay and I liked that we all learned and used these new types of sentences. I think that I should have improved on checking for small errors such as, missing comas, non capitalized words and other things like that. However I still think I did pretty and it turned up pretty nicely.

Reflection on My First 6th grade Math Test.

           I thought that the first page was fairly easy and I enjoyed it. I thought that throughout the math test it got a bit harder. Lvl 1-4 was easy but level 5 was getting challenging. I was sure I could finish at least level 5 but unfortunately we did not have time. So I only finished about half of level 5. Next time I think I should have prepared a bit more and looked throughout the book more but overall I thought I did pretty good and that I got either a 4 or a 5.

Will the Tietè live or die in agony?

Como Nossa Invenção Limpar Tietê Funcionando.
Nossa invenção pode parecer complicado, mas quando você entende, é muito simples. A água se move de bacia para bacia, porque no meio, a altitude é reduzida
Passo 1: Há um portão que bloquea o lixo grande e alguém recolhe-lo e joga-lo em um caminhão de lixo (1). Em seguida, a água é movido para a primeira bacia, longe do rio.(2)
Passo 2: Na primeira bacia, luzes UV destruir os produtos químicos do rio (3). As luzes UV são alimentados por painéis solares, portanto, não causando poluição do ar. (4)


Passo 3:. Na segunda bacia as boas bactérias são derramadas sobre as bactérias ruins,  as boas  bacterias limpão bactérias ruins, a água fica limpa (5)
Passo 4: o oxigénio do ar é libertado para a água no lado da bacia, porque o tubo é sucção e purificação de ar (6). A bacia tem uma porta que se vai abrindo quando há muita pressão e depois abre, deixando a água para fora. (7)
Passo 5: A água entra em um canal maior (8), onde há outra porta que leva o lixo restante, em um pequeno riacho (9), onde há outros homens que joga-lo em outro caminhão de lixo (10).

How Our Invention to Clean Tietê Works.
Our invention may look complicated, but once you understand, it’s very simple. The water can move from basin to basin, because the altitude is reduced after each basin.
Step 1: There is gate that blocks the big trash and  someone takes it and throws it into a trash truck (1). After that, the water moves to the first basin, next to the river.(2)
Step 2: The first basin, UV lights destroy the chemicals in the river (3). The UV lights are powered by solar panels, therefore, not causing pollution in the air. (4)
Step 3:  In the second basin, the good bacteria is poured on bad bacteria, and since good bacteria cleans out bad bacteria, the water is cleaned.(5)
Step 4: Oxygen  from the air is released into the water in the next basin because the tube is sucking and purifying the air (6). The basin has a door that feels when there is too much pressure and then opens, letting the water out.(7)
Step 5: The water goes into a bigger canal, (8)  where there is another gate that takes out remaining trash, into a small stream(9), where there is another trashman who throws it into another trash truck.(10)
This project is clean for the earth and cleans the river efficiently. Our project offers jobs for security and trash men, therefore increasing the economy.

Reflection Paragraph
I liked the Tiete learning process for many different reasons. First I liked that my group had good collaboration and we worked well together. Also I liked that we got to do a conceptual model then after we are prepared we start working on our physical model. I thought that building and making the physical model was very fun. many things worked well in the group, our collaboration and other stuff. I especially was happy and surprised that our model worked and cleaned the water. We had many leaks, luckily we solved that problem in time. If we could change some things in the project I would make the natural filter better. The leaks also delayed us and we would make it with no leaks next time.

Book Club Movie Trailer

       I thought that the book clubs are a really good idea. First we get to read and understand the book with your group. Also after we finish reading the book we get together with your group and make a project together, like a trailer, a small movie, a poster or something else. With the group we learn and understand the book and we also learn new words. It also improves your skills in reading. Overall I like the book club because we get to pick your book and go to book club members with members of your group.

Are coconuts falling from the sky?

Hail is a very interesting weather condition. It is solid rain falling out of thunderstorms or strong showers. Hail can vary in size, as you can see in the image above those hail block are about the same size of golf balls. Hail is basically a frozen rain drop, if its cold outside the raindrops will form into a solid, called hail. Some hail stones can grow to the size of softballs, even bigger than those in the image above. There is a table called the hail classification table. This measures the sizes of the hail recorded. A hail stone can vary from a pea-sized hail stone ( 5 to 10mm), to hail stones the size of coconuts (over 150mm). The largest hail stone was reported in China, in 1902.

Charlotte Doyle Reflection Feedback

          Over all I thought are project on the board game went well. The group collaborated and understood each other. The board game turned out good in my opinion, but there were some little bumps along the way and little mistakes. Some people forgot materials and that delayed us. Also sometimes some pieces of the game would fall, the boxes would tumble over and the paint would splatter on the desk, we had to clean it up, it was a delay.
       
           Like I just said there were mistakes but mot of the project went smoothly, I like how are board turned out all painted and that we had a chest. I thought our board was planned out and executed pretty well.
     
          The board game was fun to make , even though it took time and effort it was still fun.Sometimes we rushed ourselves a little because we were running out of time. We definitely could have added more details and color but then again the issue of time.I thought that our board and our cover wasn't that good it was a bit plain.
   
  Our money format was kind of bad actually, I thought it would have looked better with money like the money in monopoly. It came out in little tiny strips which delayed us because we had to cut them out but it could have looked better.

How do you define yourself?

I define myself as an individual because I may be similar to another person and have the same hair color, feelings, emotions but I'm an individual, I think that every human is at least a little bit different then one another, therefore, all of us are individuals. As for my own character traits I think at times I may be funny, nice, and maybe giving.

How has your opinion on Charlotte changed throughout the course of the book?

My opinion of  Charlotte was that she was a fancy well dressed and very proper young lady. Throughout the book she started to develop and cane her moods and feelings towards things. She became adapted to ship life, so she decided to be part of the crew. I was very surprised when she said she wanted to join, later in the book she began to feel a sensation of love and respect for her fellow crew members and when they got at there destination she ran away from home. She went from very proper to a ship mate.

Landfill vs Incineration

              Which is better, landfills or incineration? I have been wondering about this question. Incineration and landfills both have pros and cons. How is incineration good? Well incineration turns the trash to ashes, therefore they burn the trash.Incineration woks by having the trash dumped in a trash bunker, which is a pro, then they burn it, this can be good and bad, good because the trash goes away but at the same time it is also bad because as it burns the trash it creates air pollution. incineration can be done quickly and the trash and waste is disposed of easily. Incineration has some cons too, as I have mentioned before it causes pollution by burning the trash it causes pollution. It also can cause pollution in the building of it, they have to put so much effort and it takes such a long time just to build something that burns trash. It also takes up lots of land.

            Meanwhile landfills also have pros and cons, one pro is that when the trash is compacted it creates a sort of gas which can be used to create energy, but at the other hand it also can create pollution which is a con. Another pro is that it does not take a lot of space.Also it can be buried and on top  of the landfill  can be a natural park, which is another pro! There are so cons, it takes a long time to build, and it uses lots of trucks which causes air pollution.
            I think that Landfills are better than Incineration because landfills cause less pollution and also take up  no space. En-top of the landfill can be a national park or a park and leisure place!

Tiete photo essay #3 Choice

This Picture was taken in one of our last stops. This was in Salto, the water here is not particularly clean but it's not filthy, like in Sao Paulo. This is the grand waterfall in Salto. The waterfall gets all the water churned up and it hits the other water with such impact that this actually creates a little oxygen. The waterfall is very important because of the oxygen it is producing. However I also saw lots of trash and garbage on the sides of the river, land pollution. This used to be all forest but now the people have created it into not such a forest-like area.There is a bridge crossing to the other side. There are lots of rocks, it reminds me of the river rapids, when we are going on a trip to the water park. The river has a nice ocean, and salt like smell.

Tiete Photo Essay #2 Historical

This picture was taken at our arrival. This was the first stop we made, it was in Santana do Parnaiba. We had just started walking when when saw this monument. This is a historical monument in honor of the Bandeirantes, who setteled here and founded it. The River Tiete is very important for them, they made boats carved out of a single log and sailed across the river. In those ages there where no pollution, no cars speeding by and no waste being dumped. They built this monument as remark, that the bandeirantes had settled there.

This Picture was taken in Barra Bonita. I could not believe this was the same river. I was so surprised that this was the same River Tiete. This picture includes the sides of the river, as you can see they are sloshy plants growing on the waters surface. There used to be a huge forest "hiding" the river, now people have cut it down to start plantations, such as the sugar cane and corn fields.The water here is pretty clean, animal and plant life can thrive in it. There is still pollution though. I saw a bottle in the water (not included in this photo). The river here is a nice sight to see. There are no huge industrial factories by the banks of this part of the river, meanwhile in other places there are a lot of pollution, both air and land.

After the two men ran away from the Seahawk because of Captain Jaggery how do you think Charlotte feels about this trip?

I predict that Charlotte is feeling very awkward and confused, why would 2  grown men run away because they hear a ship's name and  just run away?? It seems absurd. If I was Charlotte I would quickly become suspicious of Captain Jaggery and start 'interrogating' him. I would overflow him with questions.

What things would you have taken on your trunk across the Atlantic, Why?

I would bring a small knife, ( for protection of course), a sweater because it can get a bit chilly out at sea. Maybe a little gift for my family. I would bring a telescope to look out at sea, a book so I could identify the animals I see, and if was now in the modern 'ages' I would definitely bring entertainment, a book, iPad, and other objects.

What are the advantages and disadvantags of supersonic ans hipersoic travel.

The most important advantage of hypersonic travel is speed. You can get from New York to Tokyo in just a few hours instead of 15 hours!!!Bad things is that these.jets are really noisy and some people  might not appreciate that. It also might not be safe, and it might be very risky to go on a flight that fast. But their are good things too, for example a business man needs to get somewhere really fast or he will be fired from his job, in a supersonic jet he might not get there on time but on a hypersonic jet I think its possible.As I said before this might not be safe, traveling very fast can be good in some ways and bad in others.

Were there any moments when you disagreed with the choices the protagonist made?What would you have done differently?

Yes there were many. First of all I would have taken war seriously and be worried about what happened, unlike Philip. Second, I would have been way nicer to Timothy, earlier in the book Philip was harsh with Timothy and Timothy was probably the reason Philip didn't die. 3rd I think Philip should stop acting childish in the begging of the book, but nicely he got to be very very very mature and grown up at the end!

Ho does the protaganist see himself or herself that is different then how other people see him?

Philip sees himself as ''helpless", ''obsessed with war person" and "scared", but he's wrong, Timothy has been with him on a raft and island for a long time and he knows and he is certain that Philp is brave, now understands the concepts of war and is very mature and has grown up and experienced things that not many people go threw.

The protagonists internal feelings

Philips internal feelings are that he's stuck in  raft with this old man that he finds stubborn.He is parted a way from his mom and he really misses his family.He feel a deep loss when no ships are coming towards them and he feels alone. Lucky he has Timothy but soon Timothy dies and he feels a deep deep loss.He finds his way along and finna a ship comes.

What is the main difference of the protagonist at the beginning of the novel vs at the end

Philip thinks that war is a joke. He used to play with Hendrik that they were soldiers in war. This soon changes when Philips ship going to Miami is torpedoed by a german U boat. He is alone on a raft with an old man and they get on an island . The old man, Timothy, teaches Philip how to catch fish,build a hut, travel alone even though he is bling, and climb a really tall coconut tree. Timothy later dies and Philip is blind and alone, after a while a ship passes and Philip is rescued. Philip never played with Hendrik about war and felt he was a man and was very mature

What is the biggest external conflict that the protagonist is battling at the moment?

The external conflicts that the protagonist is facing is that he's ship was torpedoed and he is now a castaway. He is stuck with an old man on a raft. He is separated from his mom. He feels scared that he is with this big african person and he has to build up courage. He is terrified because he is blind! He depends on Timothy now.
